Voting by proxy

If you prefer not to go to the polling station on Thursday 2 May and don’t wish to vote by post, you may be able to vote by proxy. This means allowing somebody you trust to vote on your behalf.

You can apply online or you can request a paper application form from your local council’s elections office. Completed applications must reach your local council's elections office by 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024.

If after 5pm on Wednesday 24 April you are unable to vote in person because you have a medical emergency, or you learn you cannot go to the polling station because of work reasons, or the form of photo ID that you were intending to use to vote has been lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed, or has not yet been received you can apply to vote by emergency proxy. Please contact your local council’s elections office as a matter of urgency for more details.

Please remember that your proxy will be required to show their own photographic identification at the polling station. For further details please visit the Electoral Commission website.
